The Refugee Family

Wow. Holy Guacamole! This week has been incredible! I guess We lived past the supposed end of the world 3 times now in 17 years so congrats y'all!!!

We were told that this family who we thought were members was actually a part member family! The parents and uncle are not baptized but 4 of the 8 children were! It's so awesome! They are and African Refugee family from Congo I believe! They are incredible! They speak Songu, French, and one other African language! It's so amazing to go over there! So we are teaching them English and they are teaching us French hahaha it's so awesome! We went over there Wednesday and we helped a member move a bed into their house for them! Then later in the evening he told us to go to Wal Mart with him and while we were there he bought them a Microwave and some crayons and coloring books and just basic things we take for granted and another member wanted to give them a TV so we have them that too! It was the cutest thing ever to see their eyes light up over basic things in American houses was so humbling! Later in the week we went over to another investigators house and they were in pain and trying to clean the house and we decided to help them! It was so fun to be able to clean up and serve them and just be out and help people in the community! Mom don't get any ideas..... I have 2 years so it might just be a phase so don't expect it when I get home hahah.... Later in the week we actually had to give up our car to another companionship! So how does that primary song go something like "the pioneer children sang as they walked and walked and walked and walked..........."   that explains a lot of the filler time because we actually have a giant area so it's really difficult to walk to appointment to appointment but it's all good!
We had the opportunity to go to the food bank again Friday so that was cool! Oh yea also we got smartphones sooooooo that's a thing now hahaha! We had zone conference Wednesday and that was totally gnarly!  Haha sorry for my adhd I'm all over the place!!
Sunday in sacrament meeting I learned a lot of pretty cool things and I'd like to share a few of those with you. So for those of you who may not know what sacrament meeting is, it's an hour long meeting where we partake of the sacrament and that is a symbol of Jesus Christs blood and body meaning as we partake of it we promise to take his name to be upon us. And we also renew the promises we make with God when we are baptized a member. But during this meeting usually members will be asked to give a talk and during one of those talks I learned God is the Master planner but he left it up to Jesus to create the Earth. He did the same with us. He created us perfectly but it's up to us on how we build and shape our life. How profound is that? God gives us all the opportunities we have in life but will not force us to make any choice but he created us perfectly. We are the reason we act imperfectly.
Another thing I learned is in the Book of Mormon there's a story of this family and the dad of this family his name is Lehi and he wakes up one morning and finds this ball out side his tent. And this ball is called the Liahona and it is a compass and it only works if they have faith in it and if they are living the commandments of God. If they are doing those things that ball will direct them to the promised land. And immediately after they found this ball they went and followed it and it's directions. Us now a days have a "Liahona" too and ours is the Holy Ghost we search our whole life for it and when we find it usually we lose it pretty quickly. SO we need to be more like Lehi and his family and right when we find our guide we have to follow it in the way to the promised land!
I love all y'all so much!

I filled my tag, service, and the legendary devotional

This week started out slow again! BOOOOOOOO!!!!! TOTALLY LAMEEEEE!!☠☠☠😭😭😭😭 But later through out the week it got progressively faster! My French is slowly starting to get better halle-freaking-lujah! Took long enough but it seems like it's steadily rolling faster! Ian (the g.o.a.t..... greatest of all time) went out with us a lot this week on Monday he went with us and Vadia to a family's house for Family Home Evening!
It was so awesome we talked about Jesus Christ coming to the Americas it was so cool to to see the children be so excited and already have a testimony of that! So we read a lot from 3 Nephi 11 it was so good! Then on the way home from it were driving on the highway we see this thing run out from the woods like super low to the ground and at first it looked like a cougar or something and we hurried up and slowed down! It was a deer! The car to our right hit it and it jacked up their bumper but everyone was okay! But the deer was spiraling around on to the ground like a fidget spinner and hit another car! It was crazyyyyyy!!!!!!! So we went to see if everyone was okay and luckily they were! So crazy!!!!!! (To all the uncles..... i bet my buck beats the one your gonna fill your tag with 😋😋😏😏😂😂)
Then later that week Ian went with us to a few appointments! It's so cool to be out teaching with him and he's already so comfortable talking to people about the church! He wants to serve a mission asap! He's gonna kill it!!!!! We also helped the lady in the ward with the black toilet! Her sister who lives there too, they needed some chairs moved so we got to do some service for them a few times this week getting tables and chairs ready for a party for them it was so cool! They also wanted to repay us so bad because that's the kind of person she is so she had us over for dinner and it was awesome! Their not members but they love Jesus Christ! It's so fun to talk with them about it! We're trying to teach them as well so we will see where things go! On Sunday, Billy Amie Vaida and Steven all came to church it was so awesome! Steven is still planning on getting baptized on the 30th so please keep him in your prayers there's a few things that need to happen but it's possible! He's such an awesome guy he's really smart and has a lot of determination so he can totally make it happen!  Sunday night Amie came with us to the Mission Pres Devotional! It was awesome! That is where a few recent converts and a few long time converts bear their testimony and then our mission President talks too (President McCustion) and the stake President was their too and he also spoke! His name is President Dailey! I saw Sister Angeles their it was so awesome to see her it's awesome to see friends back home! For those of you who don't know she is a friend from home and she's also serving in Kansas! So awesome to see her! I also ran into a sister i had talked to a few times on the good ole gram! Sister Adams! It's so weird like everyone I see on my mission for the most part I feel like I've known my whole entire life! It's skraight wack!

This week while at dinner we were giving a message and one of the members said this "we have to be like the good Samaritan! We don't need to be kind to everyone. Just the person right in front of us at every moment!" I was astonished (yes I do know big words! Lol) it's so true we don't need to worry about everyone because we are in front of someone different every day and our lives crossed paths because God wanted them to so we must be KIND to everybody!

I love all of y'all so much thank you for everything!

Slow week.....

So this week was pretty slow! Boooooooooooooo!   But we did have some pretty cool things happen still! We taught Steven a few times again this week we had Ian come tag along and help teach! And Ian asked him if he'd wanna quit smoking! So now Steven is taking a fast from smoking and will try to quit here soon! It so awesome!
We went and knocked a lot of doors haha it was a blast 😂😂😂😂😂 most of the people we tried to see weren't there!!!!! Lameeeeee I know right!!!!! But all good! I had a blast walking around getting all my energy out cuz by all means I have a lot of it! Oh y'all would be proud of me! I've only had 1 energy drink this WHOLE week! I'm dying from it but hey it's all good! I told Steven I'll fast from that if he promised he'd fast from smoking!

We tried to see this guy Orlando again but he moved so that's totally lame! Oh yea we fetchin got FaceBook! It's so weird!!!!! It's so dope though! That was pretty much our week though! Hahaha

oh ya we taught Mark too and well that kinda turned into a bible bash and that was rough.... for him..... He told us he knew way more about our religion than us hahaha it was funny! Haahha

We went over to a members house to help set up for a party she was having so we went and set up a ton of tables and chairs and moved a bunch of stuff around! When i went to go wash my hands afterwards i noticed their toilet was black! How cool is that! A black toilet! Ive onle seen 1 before! Must be a rich people thing! Haha its legendary!
So our District Leader just got a new missionary too! His name is elder Welker! He's related to Wes Welker if y'all know who that is then you knew I'd be trippin! Cuz I most def was! But yea this week was lit and the church is most definitely true! It's so much fun going up and talking about the church with a bunch of strangers haha it's always a blast because they are always so excited to talk about Jesus!

Almost done with the first transfer!

This week was very long! Elder LaMont was sick😷 so we didn't get to do very much! It was totally lame he was sick I felt bad for him! All good he's feeling better-ish now! But this week what we did get to do was meet with Steven! I wrote about him a few weeks back and he lives with Billy and amie and their family so he always sits in on the lessons but never took it seriously. He has been coming to church lately so we decided we would have another 1 on 1 lesson with him and he told us he is ready to be baptized! So now all He has to do is stop smoking and he's solid! Him getting baptized will be such a good example to Billy and Amie and the fam! Then we met with that Jehovah's witness again and he is something else hahaha it's so sad to teach him because he doesn't want to accept the gospel because he has known something different for 33 years so he doesn't want to give that up! It's so sad! We went to the food bank again this week it was so much fun I love doing that! We also had some trainings for Facebook because we get that today!! That will be so cool!! I'm glad y'all will be able to go on this journey with me! Oh yea the funniest part of the week is when we were at this elderly couples house for dinner and I whisper to elder LaMont "I triple dog dare you to sing to them for the message today" and he started to laugh then he says he will do it for a baconator meal and I said deal. Then when time for the message comes around he says "so Elder Bischoff and I want to sing for the message tonight is that okay?" My jaw dropped...... I just got thrown under the bus so I started to laugh and we sang put your shoulder to the wheel for them 😂😂😂 it was so funny!
While singing I started to think to my self like never in my life did I think I'd be singing to an elderly couple in Kansas but I did hahaha I love being here making so many good memories! It's a blast to be able to talk to everyone about Jesus Christ because everyone out here is religious so it's common ground! And y'all know I love to talk so that's even better haha!  I love you all so much thank you for all the support and prayers!
